A girl in my class literally lost it because she wasn’t paying attention

In my gym class, a girl completely lost it because she wasn’t paying attention during our basketball scrimmage. We were in the middle of the game when the other team scored, and it was our turn to take possession. My friend C had the ball and attempted to pass it to another girl, L. Unfortunately, L wasn’t looking, and before I could react, the ball lightly hit her in the back of the head. It wasn’t hard at all, but L freaked out, accusing C of doing it on purpose, even though C had immediately apologized. Thankfully, Mr. P didn’t get mad at C; he just sent L to the locker room.

A couple of minutes later, I headed to the locker room to change and overheard L saying things like, “I’m gonna beat that girl,” and “I’ll slap that ugly btch.” It was pretty dramatic! I tried to comfort C before telling Mr. P about L’s comments. When I returned to the girls’ locker room to check on C, we found L talking to her friend M, making statements like, “I’ll let that girl walk for now” and “ugly btch.” I decided to step in and told L to calm down. She snapped again, shouting something like, “Calm down?! I’ll fight you, you ugly hoe!” At that point, Mr. P lost it and started yelling at L to “get out of my class” and that he never wanted to see her again.

EDIT: Just to clarify, when I said “the ball hit her head,” I meant it was a very gentle toss—so soft that she barely felt it. C definitely didn’t throw it hard; it was just a light pass.

  1. Wow, that sounds like quite the chaotic situation! It’s crazy how quickly things can escalate over something that seems so minor, like a basketball hitting someone on the back of the head. It’s great that you stepped in to support C and let Mr. P know what was going on—it’s always better to have someone look out for you in moments like that. Hopefully, L can cool down and realize that it was just an accident. Gym class can get intense, but hopefully, everyone can move past this and enjoy the rest of the unit!

Are AP exams valuable in Canada? I’m curious about the relevance of AP exams in Canada. If I do well […]
