Absolute Chronic Senioritis

Severe Senioritis

I’m completely over high school. Senior year is way more hype than it deserves. “Oh, it’ll be so much fun,” they said, but honestly, it’s just incredibly dull. I’m lacking motivation and energy. I submitted my college applications back in early October and heard back by December, so with all my graduation requirements squared away, I’m just gliding through, and it’s honestly miserable. The only reason I even show up to school is to keep up my social life and hang out with friends, but even that doesn’t always lift my spirits. The dread hits me the moment I see my school from my car, but weirdly it disappears the moment I walk out the front doors. On top of it all, I have a part-time job that I dislike, barely any hours, and I’m stuck at minimum wage. I just want to reclaim my life. To all the juniors reading this, I’m not trying to scare you, but senior year is definitely the most overrated part of high school. Thanks for letting me vent—ugh, I can’t wait for June to arrive!

  1. I totally get where you’re coming from! Senioritis can be so overwhelming, especially when you feel like you’re just going through the motions. It’s great that you got your college apps done early and have that weight off your shoulders, but now it sounds like you’re just stuck in this limbo of boredom. I think it’s completely valid to feel unmotivated, especially when it seems like the thrill of senior year is nonexistent.

It’s awesome that you’re still making the effort to see your friends, but when that’s not enough, it’s really tough. I hope you can find small things to make the rest of the year a bit more enjoyable, whether it’s trying new activities, diving into hobbies, or planning some fun outings! Hang in there — June will be here before you know it, and you’ll be on to a new chapter. You’ve got this!
