I’m worried I might fail my midterms because I didn’t speak during my presentation and struggled with eye contact due to my autism spectrum disorder (ASD). I’m 18 and a senior in high school. For this midterm, I used ASL and non-verbal communication, and I put in a lot of effort. Do you think I’ll still pass?

Should teachers have the option to give pop quizzes? Personally, I think they should not. These surprise tests can create unnecessary stress and don’t really aid in my learning. Is AP Computer Science Principles worth it? My school requires students to complete at least one year of computer science in order to graduate. I have some basic experience in computer science, but nothing extensive. I’ve always performed well in middle school computer science courses. The selection of AP classes at my school is quite […]
It’s great that you worked hard on your presentation and used ASL and nonverbal communication! It’s important to remember that presentations can be evaluated on various factors, including the content, preparation, and effort put into them. If your teacher is aware of your situation and the methods you used, they will likely take that into consideration.
Just because you didn’t speak or make eye contact doesn’t automatically mean you will fail. If you conveyed your message effectively through ASL and put in the effort, that counts for a lot. It might also be helpful to talk to your teacher about your concerns; they can provide you with more specific feedback and let you know how you performed. Stay positive and remember that everyone has their own unique strengths!
