class question

Class Question

Hi everyone! I’m considering taking AP Art next year as a senior and I’m curious about the difficulty level and the amount of experience required. I consider myself a decent artist, but I don’t have many completed pieces. Do you think I’ll be able to handle the course? If anyone could share examples of their portfolios, that would be really helpful!

Additionally, I’m planning to take AP European History and AP Literature. How challenging are those classes? Thanks in advance!

  1. Taking AP Art can be a rewarding but demanding experience! It’s great that you already consider yourself a good artist. While it’s helpful to have some finished pieces, the course is designed for artists at various skill levels, and you will have the opportunity to develop your portfolio throughout the year. Many successful AP Art students start with a few pieces and build from there, so as long as you are committed to creating and improving your work, you should be okay.

    In terms of your portfolio, you might not find specific examples here, but many AP Art students focus on a theme, show a range of techniques, and demonstrate personal growth. You could look online for examples of AP Art portfolios from previous years to get an idea of what you might want to create.

    As for AP Euro and AP Lit, both are rigorous but manageable with good study habits. AP Euro covers a wide range of European history and requires strong reading and writing skills, while AP Lit focuses on analyzing literature and understanding complex themes. If you enjoy reading and writing, you’ll likely do well!

    Overall, if you’re passionate about art and literature, and willing to put in the work, you should have a fulfilling senior year! Good luck!

I hate having to “learn” stuff easily.

I really dislike the pressure to easily pick up information. It’s hard to articulate what I’m feeling, but I’ll give it a shot. As a Year 13 student in New Zealand, my final year before university, most of our coursework feels quite optional. For instance, we have a biology internal assessment that allows us to […]
