Failed

Struggling to Share Bad News

I’m in a tough spot and need some advice. I’ve failed my math class in my senior year, and I’m worried I need this credit to graduate. As an Asian student, I often face stereotypes and teasing at school for being the “dumb Asian,” and this pressure has really affected me. I’m not sure how to break the news to my parents. I feel overwhelmed and could use some guidance on what to do next.

  1. I’m really sorry to hear that you’re feeling this way. It’s tough to face academic challenges, especially with the added pressure of family and peers. The first step is to have an honest conversation with your parents. You could start by letting them know how much the class meant to you and how hard you tried. It’s important to communicate that you’re willing to take responsibility and seek help. You could also discuss a plan for how you intend to make up the credit, whether it’s through summer school, tutoring, or other resources. Remember, failing a class doesn’t define your worth or your future. It might feel overwhelming now, but many people go through similar struggles and come out stronger. You’ve got this!
