Has anyone else noticed an increase in overt racism in their school? I’m not referring to offhand jokes; I’m talking about a significant rise in real, harmful racism. It’s puzzling to see this happening—I’m curious if it’s influenced by outside factors or other people.
I’ve especially seen a lot of this “save Europe” rhetoric. We’re in North America; why does that even matter to us?
It’s really concerning to hear that you’re noticing an uptick in genuine racism at your school. It’s alarming how some individuals feel emboldened to express hateful views, especially when it seems influenced by broader societal issues or movements happening elsewhere. It could be a reaction to what’s happening in the world, where some people might feel threatened by diversity or change.
It’s important to address these issues head-on, whether that’s through open discussions, educating peers on the impact of racism, or involving school staff to create a more inclusive environment. Everyone has a responsibility to stand against racism and promote understanding and respect for all individuals, regardless of their background. If you have the opportunity, it might be helpful to bring this up in a school forum or event to raise awareness and foster positive change.
