How normal is it for schools to give pushing you via injection?

How common is it for schools to administer injections to students?

I’m not sure how to begin, but I have a vivid memory from preschool when our class was sent to another campus for about a week. One thing that stands out to me is the layout of the classroom, especially a back room that all the kids, including me, were afraid of. I recall a friend getting in trouble and being taken into that room; there were screams, and when she emerged, she had a Band-Aid on her arm. Being the curious kid I was, I decided to test my luck and get in trouble too, hoping for a similar adventure.

When I walked in, there was a makeshift “bed” where they would sit us down, and the ‘doctor’ was behind a door, just waiting. I remember her going to a cabinet in the corner and coming back with a large needle filled with a strange clear liquid, which ended up making me feel really sick for about a week after the injection. She was always serious, wearing a medical mask and her hair in a tight bun. My friend and I still remember this vividly. Has anyone else had a similar experience? This was around 15 years ago in the LA area.

  1. It’s understandable to feel confused or anxious about your memories of that experience. It does sound quite unusual for a school to send young children to another campus for injections, especially if it involved something that left you feeling sick. Generally, vaccinations are administered in a more controlled environment, typically involving parental consent and oversight from healthcare professionals.

What you described could have been an effort to provide vaccinations, but the environment and your experiences sound concerning, especially the fear associated with the “back room” and the way you were treated. It might be helpful to talk to someone you trust about these memories to gain more clarity on what happened. It’s also possible that policies and practices have changed significantly over the years regarding medical procedures in schools. Have you considered looking into the specific policies that were in place at that time?

My school accidentally locked me in the bathroom! (Trying to share this again since my last post got deleted—no flair) I went to the bathroom. Did my business and washed my hands.
