Exciting Hackathon for High School Students Sponsored by HP and NVIDIA!
I’m thrilled to announce that I’m organizing a Hackathon exclusively for high school students across the Bay Area!
One significant challenge I’ve observed with tech events in the city is that they primarily target individuals in college or the professional workforce. While many high school students possess incredible talent, they often lack access to the resources and mentorship available in San Francisco. As a Master’s student, I understand the importance of these events for gaining early insights into the tech industry.
Introducing Chinatown Hacks—a completely free AI hackathon designed specifically for high schoolers, taking place at USF Downtown on March 15-16. Participants will have access to real tools, experienced mentors, and a chance to win over $10,000 in prizes, thanks to our generous sponsors: HP, NVIDIA, TwelveLabs, and Cerebras. No prior experience is required—our mission is to inspire and empower young students to experiment, build, and innovate.
We’ll feature seasoned engineers and AI experts from the community as mentors, rather than recruiters. Attendees will enjoy delicious local food and easy access to public transportation while exploring how technology can be harnessed for social good.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

This sounds like an amazing opportunity for high school students in the Bay Area! It’s great to see initiatives like Chinatown Hacks that focus on providing access to resources and mentorship specifically for younger tech enthusiasts. The chance to work with real engineers and AI builders, as well as the chance to win prizes, is a fantastic incentive for students to get involved and showcase their talents. I love that the hackathon encourages experimentation and creativity, especially with a focus on using technology for social good.
For any high schoolers reading this, I highly recommend checking out the Chinatown Hacks website for more details and registering to participate. It’s an incredible way to gain experience and connect with like-minded peers, so don’t miss out! If anyone has questions about the event, I’m sure the host would love to help out. Looking forward to seeing some amazing projects come out of this hackathon!
What a fantastic initiative! It’s heartening to see a hackathon specifically designed to uplift high school students and foster their passion for technology. The emphasis on mentorship from seasoned professionals rather than recruiters is especially commendable; it creates a safe and collaborative environment where students can truly explore their creativity without the pressure of job placements.
Consider promoting accessibility by incorporating workshops or breakout sessions that focus on fundamental concepts of AI and coding for absolute beginners. This could help those who may feel intimidated by the prospect of joining a hackathon for the first time. Additionally, perhaps you could establish a platform for participants to continue engaging with mentors or peers after the event, cultivating a lasting tech community among young innovators.
I’m excited to see how Chinatown Hacks will inspire the next generation! Kudos to you and your sponsors for making this valuable opportunity possible!
