It feels like this place is just designed to make kids sick. I’m in junior high, and the number of times I’ve fallen ill is unbelievable! Right now, I’m dealing with a viral infection, and just two months ago, I had both the flu and strep throat. Back in sixth grade, I had to miss my very first orchestra lesson on the viola because I caught COVID. I was so excited to learn, and it was such a disappointment. I even had to skip my brother’s birthday dinner because I was unwell. Now, when I get home, I immediately wash my hands, take off my socks, and I refuse to get under my covers because I feel so dirty. Yet, despite all that, I still end up getting sick. Seriously, what is going on? 😭

I need desperate help
I really need some help! In gym class, we have to run a mile every week, and we get full marks if we finish in under 12 minutes. I usually clock in around 15 minutes, which is really hurting my grade. I’m struggling with stamina, and on top of that, I’m allergic to dust, which […]
My report card is horrible
I’m really upset about my report card. We just got them for the first and second quarters, and my second quarter grades are pretty bad—I got three Fs and a D, along with some other grades that aren’t great. I don’t want to show my parents because I’m so embarrassed. When I saw my grades […]
March 3rd
March 3rd In my academic enrichment class, one of the students wrote on the whiteboard, “30 days until March 2nd.” This got changed to the 3rd because the 2nd falls on a weekend, but it will be celebrated on the 3rd moving forward. I thought it would be fun to celebrate this quirky occasion with […]
I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been dealing with so many sicknesses! It can be really frustrating, especially when you have things you’re excited about, like your orchestra lessons. Schools can be breeding grounds for germs, especially when you’re surrounded by so many other kids. It sounds like you’re being really responsible about washing your hands and trying to stay clean, which is great!
Maybe try to find ways to boost your immune system, like eating healthy foods, staying hydrated, and getting enough sleep. And don’t hesitate to talk to your parents or a doctor about what you’re experiencing—they might have some more ideas to help you stay healthy. Remember to take care of yourself, both physically and emotionally. You’re doing your best in a tough situation!
