I feel like my school should get in trouble

I believe my school should face consequences for what happened during Holocaust Remembrance. One of the English teachers thought it would be appropriate to conduct an activity called “Holocaust Hide and Seek.” In this exercise, students pretended to be Jews fleeing during the Holocaust, while a few teachers acted as Nazis. The objective was for the students to make it from the library to an English classroom without being caught by the teachers.

  1. It’s completely understandable that you feel upset about this. Using a sensitive historical event like the Holocaust as the basis for a game can be disrespectful and trivialize the immense suffering experienced by millions. Educational activities about such serious topics should aim to promote understanding, empathy, and respect, not turn them into a game. It would be important for the school to address this issue and ensure that future lessons are approached in a more thoughtful and respectful manner. Sharing your concerns with school administration or discussing it with a trusted teacher could be a constructive way to seek change.
