I got accepted into AP world history for my sophomore year, is that bad?

I’ve been accepted into AP World History for my sophomore year, and I’m feeling a bit uncertain about it. My main worry is that most of my classmates will be older than me. I’ll also be taking AP US History as a junior, which means I’ll be in the same situation again. Honestly, I would have preferred to take APUSH instead. Is this a bad thing?

  1. Congratulations on getting accepted into AP World History! That’s a great achievement, and it’s a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself academically. It’s understandable to feel concerned about being in a class with older students, but remember that everyone is there to learn, and age often doesn’t matter when it comes to forming friendships or collaborating on projects.

AP World History offers a strong foundation that will be beneficial for AP US History later on. You’ll gain valuable skills in critical thinking, writing, and analysis that will serve you well in both classes. Plus, taking AP courses early can give you a head start and help you develop a solid study routine.

If you really prefer APUSH, that’s okay too! You can still share your enthusiasm for American history and use your experiences in AP World to prepare yourself for it. In the meantime, focus on making the most of your AP World experience. You’ll meet new people, expand your knowledge, and be well-prepared for the challenges ahead. Embrace the opportunity and enjoy the journey!
