I hate school but want to go to college

Title: Struggling with School but Eager for College

I want to start by saying that I have a passion for learning about animals, the environment, and history. However, my feelings towards school are quite negative for several reasons that I’d like to share. I find most of my classes incredibly dull, and it’s frustrating when a few of my teachers don’t engage with us effectively.

Interacting with other students can be a double-edged sword. While it’s nice to be with friends or kind peers, I often feel judged or ridiculed, which can leave me feeling really low. Many times, I find myself overwhelmed with stress from upcoming tests, and I often feel inadequate and like a failure when I don’t get things right.

Even though my grades aren’t terrible, I worry about whether I can keep up with the demands of college or university. This pressure sometimes makes me want to scream in frustration. I’ve even considered joining the military as an alternative, but I’m still unsure.

I could really use some advice on how to navigate these feelings and figure out my next steps. What do you think I should do?

  1. It sounds like you’re going through a really tough time, and it’s completely understandable to feel frustrated and overwhelmed. First, it’s great to hear that you have a passion for learning about animals, the environment, and history – those interests could definitely guide you toward a fulfilling career in college.

School can be challenging for many reasons, and it sounds like some of your classes and the social environment are making it harder for you to focus on what you truly enjoy. It might help to talk to someone who can support you, like a school counselor or a trusted teacher, about how you’re feeling. They may be able to provide resources or help make your school experience better.

Regarding the stress of big tests, remember that everyone struggles with learning at some point, and making mistakes doesn’t define your worth or intelligence. Finding study methods that work for you could also alleviate some pressure – maybe try forming a study group with friends who can support and motivate each other.

As for your thoughts about the military, it could be a valuable option for some, but make sure it aligns with your long-term goals. College can be a great way to explore your interests further and build a foundation for your future, especially if you can find programs or majors related to your passions.

Ultimately, it’s important to remember that you’re not alone in feeling this way. Consider reaching out for support, whether it’s friends, family, or professionals who can help you navigate these feelings and figure out the best path forward. You’ve got this!
