I’m genuinely cooked this May.

I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed this May!

Hey everyone, I’m an 11th grader studying at an Indian high school and I’ve never taken an AP exam before—this is my only chance!

I’ll be sitting for the following APs this May:
– AP Calculus BC
– AP Physics C Mechanics
– AP Computer Science A

Since our school doesn’t offer AP classes, I’ll be preparing for all of them over the next two months.

Mechanics shouldn’t be too tough for me since our Grade 11 syllabus is somewhat based around it. I just need to level up my skills and get accustomed to the AP-style questions.

However, with AP Computer Science A and Calculus BC, I’m really starting to feel the pressure. I have finals going on but can’t stop thinking about how I’ll study for them—especially for Calculus BC. We’ve only covered about half a unit in class, and I still have 11 units left to go!

If anyone has resources or tips for a first-time AP student, I’d really appreciate your help!

Thanks so much! <3

  1. Hey! It sounds like you have a lot on your plate, but it’s great that you’re planning ahead. Here are some tips and resources that might help you tackle your AP exams effectively:

    1. AP Course Descriptions: Start by checking the official AP course descriptions for Calculus BC, Physics C Mechanics, and Computer Science A on the College Board website. They outline the key concepts and topics you’ll need to understand.

    2. Study Guides: Invest in study guides like the 5 Steps to a 5 series or the Barron’s AP series. They cover the material in a structured way and often include practice questions.

    3. Online Resources:

    4. Khan Academy: They have excellent resources for both AP Calculus and AP Physics. The video explanations can be really helpful for grasping complex concepts.
    5. AP Classroom: If your school has access, use AP Classroom to get practice questions and progress checks.
    6. YouTube: Channels like 3Blue1Brown for Calculus and channels like Flipping Physics for Physics can help reinforce your understanding with visual explanations.

    7. Practice Problems: Make sure to practice as many past AP exam questions as you can. Websites like AP Central provide free-response questions from previous years.

    8. Study Schedule: Since you have limited time, create a study schedule that breaks down your goals week by week. This can keep you organized and ensure you cover all topics before the exam.

    9. Study Groups: If possible, study with friends or classmates who are also preparing for the APs. Explaining concepts to each other can reinforce your understanding and make studying more enjoyable.

    10. Focus on Weak Areas: As you study, identify your weak areas and spend extra time on them. For Calculus BC, make sure you understand integration techniques and series as these can be challenging topics.

    11. Stay Healthy: Don’t forget to take care of yourself! Regular breaks, enough sleep, and proper nutrition can make a huge difference in your ability to concentrate and retain information.

You’ve got this, and remember to take it one step at a time. Good luck with your studying and your finals! If you have any specific questions about a topic, feel free to ask. 😊
