I’m feeling quite disappointed. Today marks the third day of Black History Month and the first school day of February. I had hoped that my fellow students would be more respectful this month, as they often toss around racial slurs, including toward me. Unfortunately, my concerns were justified. Throughout the day, I was subjected to numerous slurs, primarily being called a monkey and the N-word. It’s disheartening to realize that American schools can still feel like a hostile environment for so many. I wish I didn’t have to endure this, let alone spend my days in a school that feels so unwelcoming.

I’m really sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this. It’s heartbreaking and absolutely unacceptable that you have to deal with racism, especially in a place where you should feel safe and supported. No one should have to endure that kind of treatment. It’s important to address these issues with teachers, school administration, or counselors who can help create a more inclusive environment. Remember, you’re not alone, and there are people who want to support you. You deserve to feel respected and valued at school and everywhere else.
