[Intro] Aspiring College Student

Hello everyone! I’m a 30-year-old man who has been out of work for the past three years due to some medical issues. While I’ve made progress in my health, I still manage a seizure disorder and face some mobility challenges.

I’m eager to return to school to pursue a degree in IT/software engineering. This path will allow me to take as many online classes as possible and work from home, which is essential for me. However, after being out of the workforce for so long without any support, I find myself unable to afford the necessary equipment to set up a home office.

I’ve put together a wishlist of items that would be a bit of an investment but would serve me well in both my studies and potential future job. I’m not sure where to share this wishlist, as I don’t have many friends or family to turn to for help. I understand it’s a big ask for a stranger to seek out support, but it would mean so much to me as I pursue my dream of working with computers—a passion I’ve had since childhood!

If anyone has suggestions on where I can share my wishlist, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

  1. Hey there! It’s great to hear that you’re eager to go back to school for IT/software engineering, especially given the challenges you’ve faced. Your passion for working with computers is inspiring, and it’s wonderful that you’re looking to make that dream a reality.

For sharing your wishlist, you have a few options:

    1. Online Platforms: Consider using platforms like GoFundMe or Kickstarter. These are designed for people looking to fund personal projects or educational needs. You can explain your situation and the specific items you need for your home office.

    2. Social Media: If you’re comfortable with it, you could post on platforms like Facebook or Twitter to reach a wider audience. Sharing your story and wishlist can resonate with people who might want to help.

    3. Local Community Groups: Look for community groups on Facebook or local forums where you can share your story. There may be individuals or organizations in your area willing to support you.

    4. Reddit: Subreddits like r/ForTheHorde or r/RandomActsOfKindness can be good places to share your story. Just be sure to follow the rules of the subreddit, as some have specific guidelines for posting.

    5. Nonprofit Organizations: Research local nonprofits that help individuals in need or support education. They might have programs or resources that can assist you.

Whatever route you choose, being open about your journey and your needs can help connect you with people who are willing to lend a hand. Best of luck with your studies and your home office setup! You’ve got this!
