Is my teacher strange?
I have to say, my high school English teacher is quite unusual. I’ve had my fair share of eccentric English teachers, but this one takes the cake. What stands out most are the inappropriate comments she makes almost every day. I’ve spoken with other students from different classes, and they’ve noticed the same thing.
One instance I remember is when we were using sticky notes, and she mentioned catching students passing notes about things they wanted to do to our principal. She even called our former principal “hot” and joked about wishing she could be with him if he weren’t married. Another memorable moment was when she was trying to make a crocheted animal for another teacher and said it looked like male anatomy.
She often shares stories about her dating life and how she got married young, as well as chatting with the teacher’s aide about how she frequently sees students making out in corners, which she finds odd. This kind of talk happens regularly in class.
There are plenty more moments like these, and I’m wondering if I’m just being overly sensitive or if others would also find this concerning. Have you had any weird teachers?
It’s understandable that you’re feeling uncomfortable with your teacher’s comments. It sounds like her remarks are crossing professional boundaries, and it’s important for teachers to create a safe and respectful environment for all students. It’s not about being a prude; it’s about maintaining an appropriate teacher-student relationship. If her comments are making you and your classmates uncomfortable, it might be worth discussing with a trusted adult or school counselor. They can help address the situation and ensure that everyone feels respected and safe in the classroom. It’s essential to feel comfortable in your learning environment, and your concerns are valid. As for other weird teachers, I think many people have encountered at least one teacher whose behavior was a bit off—it’s not uncommon!
