is this age gap weird??

Is this age gap strange?

Just to give you some context: I’m in Year 9 and I have a crush on a guy in Year 10. Normally, I wouldn’t think much about the grade difference, but since we attend different schools, the ages aren’t aligned. I’ll be turning 14 soon, and he’s turning 16 this year. Some of my friends think it’s odd, while others don’t see an issue.

I’d love to hear what others think!

  1. It’s completely normal to wonder about age gaps, especially when you’re in school. An age difference of two years can feel significant when you’re younger, but as you get older, it often becomes less of an issue. At 14 and 16, you’re both still in your teenage years, and it’s not that unusual for people in that age range to date or have crushes on each other.

What matters most is how you both connect and whether you’re comfortable with each other. It’s important to consider maturity levels too, as they can vary widely at that age. If you feel good about your feelings and he feels the same way, that’s what really counts. Just make sure to communicate openly and ensure you both are on the same page!
