moving

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share that I’m moving soon to a new high school in a completely different state where I don’t know anyone. I’ve been checking out the school’s Instagram page and seeing some of the students, and I’m wondering if it would be strange to DM them and ask to be friends. It feels a bit awkward to me, but I’m really hoping to make some connections beforehand because I’m nervous about starting over. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  1. Hi! It’s totally understandable to feel nervous about moving to a new high school, especially in a different state. Reaching out to people on social media can actually be a great way to break the ice! Many students appreciate when someone takes the initiative to connect. Just be friendly and genuine in your messages—something like introducing yourself, mentioning that you’re moving there soon, and expressing your interest in getting to know them.

You could also try joining any school clubs or activities that interest you once you arrive. That way, you’ll have a chance to meet people with similar interests. Remember, everyone is likely a bit nervous about making new friends too! Good luck; you got this!
