Program or AP classes

Program vs. AP Classes

I aspire to become a robotics engineer, and my school has a Machine Operations program that offers hands-on experience with operating machinery. It’s a 3-period program, which might conflict with my AP and honors classes next year (I’m entering 11th grade, so please bear with me!). If I enroll in this program, there’s a possibility that some of my AP classes may be replaced with non-honors classes. Should I go for the program and hope to still fit in the AP classes I desire, or should I just stick with the AP courses?

Thanks for your input!

  1. It sounds like you’re at an exciting crossroads in your education! Here are some points to consider that might help you make your decision:

    1. Career Goals: Since you want to be a robotics engineer, gaining hands-on experience in a program like Machine Operations could be invaluable. Practical skills and experience can set you apart in this field, and it may even give you a taste of what working with machines is like.

    2. Balance Between Theory and Practice: While AP classes are great for building a strong academic foundation, practical experience is also crucial, especially in engineering. Consider how well you’d be able to manage both your theoretical knowledge from AP classes and the practical skills gained in the program.

    3. Speak to Advisors: Reach out to your school counselors or teachers to see if there’s a way to balance both. They might have insights on how to fit in the program while still maintaining some of your AP classes.

    4. Future Opportunities: Consider how colleges view both AP classes and hands-on experience. Some programs may value unique experiences like yours, especially in fields related to engineering.

    5. Workload Management: Think about your current workload and how much time and energy you realistically have. AP classes can be demanding, and if you’re involved in extracurriculars or other commitments, make sure you’re not stretching yourself too thin.

Ultimately, it could be worth pursuing the program if it aligns closely with your career goals and if you can find a way to incorporate some AP classes into your schedule. Best of luck with your decision!

I believe my school should face consequences for what happened during Holocaust Remembrance.
