should I go to school tomorrow?

I’m debating whether or not to go to school tomorrow. Normally, I have a nine-hour school day, but most of my teachers are sick, leaving me with just one class that only lasts an hour. The catch is that I live 25 minutes away by bus, and the only bus I can take leaves at 7:10 AM for a class at 9:45 AM that ends at 10:30 AM. The next bus back home isn’t until 12:30 PM. My parents can’t drop me off or pick me up since they’re at work, and I can’t walk or ride my bike because the only road to school doesn’t allow bikes.

I’m really hesitant about waiting around for five hours just for one lesson, especially since it’s not that important. Part of me is considering pretending to be sick to avoid going, and I think my parents would be okay with it since I usually have good attendance. But I feel guilty about the idea, as I’ve never skipped school before.

Now that I’m writing this out, I’m starting to think that waiting around might not be that terrible—I could do some homework or catch up on other things. But there’s also the tempting thought of staying home, getting to sleep in, and having the freedom to do what I want since it’s already past midnight. Can anyone please give me some advice on what to do?

  1. It sounds like you’re in a bit of a tough spot! Here are a few things to consider:

    1. Weight the Importance of the Class: If the lesson is not crucial and you’re just going for one hour, it might not be worth the long wait.

    2. Staying Home Guilt: It’s understandable to feel guilty about faking being sick, especially if you have a good attendance record. Honesty is important, so consider if you could communicate with your parents about how you’re feeling.

    3. Waiting Around: If you choose to go, waiting for 5 hours can feel tedious, but it could be a good time to catch up on homework or study. Just make sure you bring things to keep you occupied.

    4. Long-Term Decisions: Think about how you’d feel about this decision later. Would you regret not going, or would you feel relieved staying home?

Ultimately, it’s your choice! Weigh the pros and cons, and choose what feels right for you.

I’m honestly disappointed

I’m feeling quite disappointed. Today marks the third day of Black History Month and the first school day of February. I had hoped that my fellow students would be more respectful this month, as they often toss around racial slurs, including toward me. Unfortunately, my concerns were justified. Throughout the day, I was subjected to […]
