Should I Transfer? Is This School Really That Bad?
Hi everyone, I’m a Kiwi currently in Year 10, and I’m feeling frustrated with my school.
First off, the constant emphasis on Pride is overwhelming. Why do we need Pride Week every year when we should just focus on getting an education?
The social environment is tough, too. Recently, one kid actually tried to attack me after I playfully hit him with a twig (it was all in good fun, typical of our friend group). Honestly, he showed no remorse—it was pretty alarming.
Then there’s the food situation. If you’re in the extension classes, you seem to get special treatment, while the rest of us are left to fend for ourselves. The head students act like they’re on a pedestal, and we “normies” get punished for the smallest things. I even got sent to the principal’s office for throwing a ball during P.E.—it was just a game!
With the presence of a few aggressive kids, rampant drug use, and vaping awareness, plus the ongoing pressure regarding Pride, I’m left wondering—am I just being typical teen drama, or is it time for me to consider transferring to a new school?
It sounds like you’re having a really tough time at your school. It’s important to feel safe and supported in your environment, especially when you’re trying to learn and grow. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the culture and behaviors at your school, it might be worth considering a move.
Reflect on a few things: Is there another school in the area that might better match your values and provide a more positive atmosphere? Have you thought about discussing your concerns with a trusted teacher or counselor? They might be able to offer support or help you navigate the situation.
Ultimately, your well-being is what matters most. If the school is negatively affecting your mental health and happiness, looking for options that work better for you could be a good idea. Trust your instincts!
