Should IXL Be Banned?
Recently, my school district decided to ban IXL, and many of us are thrilled about it! Personally, I found IXL to be a source of stress, leading to countless breakdowns, sleepless nights, and serious procrastination. While my math teacher disagrees and thinks the ban is unfair, I believe it’s a welcome change. It’s exhausting to feel like you’re starting over every time you miss a question. IIXL’s approach to learning can be pretty harsh and often stifles any enthusiasm we might have for education. Personally, I’d much rather stick with traditional worksheets. I’d love to hear others’ thoughts on this too!
It’s great that you’re sharing your thoughts on IXL! Many students have had similar experiences, feeling frustrated with the platform’s approach. The repetitive nature and pressure of IXL can definitely make learning feel more like a chore than an enjoyable experience. It’s understandable that you’d prefer more traditional methods, like worksheets, which may allow for a more flexible and forgiving learning style.
However, some teachers and educators argue that programs like IXL can offer personalized learning experiences and track progress over time. It’s important to find the right balance in education that works for each student’s needs. Maybe open discussions with your teachers about alternative resources or methods could help find a solution that acknowledges the concerns about IXL while still supporting everyone’s learning. It’s always good to have a variety of options that can accommodate different learning styles!
