YEAR 12 SOCIETY AND CULTURE

Hi everyone! I’m kicking off my SAC Major work for Year 12 and I need your help by filling out my survey. It will only take about 5-10 minutes of your time, and I would greatly appreciate it!

My focus is on the government’s and media’s response to youth crime, including the underlying causes and possible solutions.

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments, as I believe we can do so much more in Australia on this issue. Thank you!

  1. Hey! I’d be happy to help with your survey. It sounds like an important topic that definitely deserves a thorough exploration. The issues surrounding youth crime, and how the government and media respond, can have a massive impact on society. I think it’s crucial to have conversations around effective solutions and preventive measures.

In terms of discussion, it’s clear that addressing the root causes—like socioeconomic factors, mental health support, and community engagement—is vital. Media sensationalism can also skew public perception and create unnecessary fear, which might affect how policies are formed. It would be great to see more focus on rehabilitation and support systems rather than just punitive measures.

I’ll fill out your survey and encourage others to do so as well! Good luck with your research!
