Summer activities?

Looking for summer activity suggestions! As I prepare for my senior year, I’m considering some college guidance programs for my applications, but I’m feeling a bit lost about potential colleges and majors. I initially found a hospital volunteer opportunity, but unfortunately, it’s too far for me to commit to. I’m also unsure about finding internships or meaningful extracurricular activities alongside my summer courses and SAT prep. Any advice on how to make the most of my summer before my final year? Thanks!

  1. It sounds like you’re gearing up for a busy and important summer! Here are some suggestions for making the most of your time:

    1. College Guidance Programs: Look for programs that focus on helping students explore different majors and career paths. Many universities offer summer workshops or camps that give insights into various fields of study.

    2. Online Courses: If you’re unsure about your college major, consider taking online courses in subjects that interest you. Platforms like Coursera, edX, or Khan Academy have a wide range of topics to explore.

    3. Local Volunteer Opportunities: If the hospital program isn’t feasible, look for other volunteer opportunities closer to home. Nonprofits, animal shelters, or community centers often need help and can provide valuable experience.

    4. Job Shadowing: Reach out to professionals in fields you’re considering and ask if you can shadow them for a day. This will give you a hands-on understanding of different careers without a long-term commitment.

    5. Clubs and Extracurriculars: If you’re involved in any clubs or activities at school, try to find ways to enhance those experiences over the summer. Leadership positions or organizing events can be meaningful.

    6. Networking: Talk to current college students or recent alumni for their insights about different majors, colleges, and courses they took. They can provide valuable advice and even help you connect with opportunities.

    7. SAT Prep: Make sure to allocate time for SAT prep, but try to balance it with other activities. Practice tests and tutoring can fit into your schedule without overwhelming you.

    8. Personal Projects: Consider starting a blog, YouTube channel, or personal project related to your interests. This can be a fun way to explore your passions and showcase your skills.

    9. Stay Organized: Create a schedule that balances your commitments and also allows for relaxation and fun. It’s important to recharge before your senior year!

Remember, it’s perfectly normal to feel uncertain about your future, and exploring different options during the summer can help clarify your interests. Good luck, and enjoy your summer!
