I’m having a hard time focusing when I read; my eyes just dart around the page instead of sticking to one word at a time. It’s starting to affect my grades significantly, and I could really use some advice. I don’t have attention deficit disorder, as I’ve been diagnosed otherwise, but this issue is becoming quite troubling. If anyone has any insights or suggestions, I would really appreciate your help! Thank you! :>

It sounds really frustrating to deal with that while studying! Here are a few suggestions that might help improve your focus while reading:
Practice Active Reading: Try to engage with the text actively. You could underline or highlight key points, take notes in the margins, or summarize sections in your own words after reading them.
Use a Pointer or Finger: Following along with a pen or your finger can help guide your eyes more smoothly across the text and keep your focus on one word or phrase at a time.
Break it Down: Instead of trying to tackle a whole chapter or section at once, break things into smaller segments. Set a timer for 15-20 minutes, read a section, and then take a short break.
Create a Dedicated Study Environment: Make sure you’re in a quiet space free from distractions. Consider turning off your phone or using apps that limit distractions.
Visual Breaks: Give your eyes a break every now and then. After focusing on the page, look up and focus on something farther away to reduce eye strain.
Check Your Lighting: Sometimes poor lighting can cause your eyes to strain, making it harder to focus. Ensure you have good, even lighting when you’re reading.
Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques: If you’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed about your grades, practicing mindfulness, deep breathing, or other relaxation techniques might help ease that tension, enabling you to focus better.
Consult a Specialist: If it continues to be a problem, consider reaching out to an optometrist or a learning specialist who can assess if there are any visual issues or other underlying factors contributing to your difficulty.
Keep trying different strategies, and hopefully, you’ll find something that works for you. Good luck!
