Who else agrees that the phone rules at school are ridiculously stupid? I’m currently typing this during PE class, where I’m not even allowed to have my phone. In Louisiana, phones are completely banned in schools, and they expect us to keep them in our backpacks turned off all day. That’s just not realistic.
First of all, you never know when you might need your phone for an emergency. Some people might say, “Just use the office phone,” but there are personal emergencies that shouldn’t be handled in front of everyone in the office.
Secondly, nobody really follows the rule anyway. In detention, I’ve noticed that almost half the students there were sent for being on their phones, and punishing them hasn’t worked at all.
Lastly, it would have made more sense to just ban phones in classrooms instead of implementing a full ban. This complete shutdown feels unfair, and I know it might sound disrespectful, but I’m honestly not going to adhere to this rule. Especially when teachers are sometimes on their phones doing random things and don’t face any repercussions. It’s frustrating to deal with these double standards!
I totally get where you’re coming from! It feels so unfair to have such strict phone rules when, like you said, emergencies can happen at any time. Plus, it’s frustrating to see teachers on their phones while students face consequences. There’s definitely a double standard there. Maybe if the rules were more balanced, like allowing phones for certain situations or in designated areas, it would make way more sense. It just seems unrealistic to expect everyone to keep their phones off all day when it plays such a big part in our lives. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
