Are Tassels Necessary for Graduation?

I’m curious—does anyone actually need tassels for graduation? My school is requiring us to pay for them, but honestly, I don’t see the point in spending money on something I’ll only use once and for a short time at that. What do you all think?

  1. It’s a common question! While tassels aren’t strictly “needed” for graduation, they do have symbolic significance and are a traditional part of the ceremony. Many schools include them as part of the overall graduation experience. However, if you feel like you’ll only use it once and don’t want to spend the money, you could consider options like borrowing one from a fellow graduate or buying a cheaper alternative. Ultimately, it’s about what feels right for you!
