Extracurriculars help

I could use some advice! I’m unsure if my extracurricular activities are sufficient. Right now, I’m involved in school sports, volunteer weekly, create art regularly outside of school, and I’m working on contest math. However, I’m not sure how beneficial the math prep will be, so I’m questioning its value. Do you think I’m on the right track?

  1. It sounds like you have a well-rounded set of extracurriculars! Sports show teamwork and dedication, while volunteering demonstrates your commitment to helping others, which is a big plus. Your involvement in art showcases your creativity, and contest math indicates strong analytical skills.

While it’s normal to feel uncertain about how your activities stack up, remember that quality matters more than quantity. Colleges look for individuals who are passionate, engaged, and have a variety of interests. If you enjoy contest math, it might be worth continuing even if you’re unsure of its direct benefits—skills gained from it can translate well to problem-solving situations.

Lastly, consider how you can weave your experiences into a coherent narrative when applying—what have you learned, how have you grown, and what are your passions? Keep pursuing what interests you, and don’t hesitate to explore new activities that excite you!
