Extracurriculars help

Need some advice on my extracurriculars! I’m currently involved in school sports, weekly volunteering, and I regularly participate in art outside of school. I’m also doing math contests, but I’m not sure how beneficial that will be for my application. Do you think I have a strong enough profile, especially since I’m aiming for schools like UCLA or UC Berkeley? My GPA is on track, so I’m just worried about my activities. Am I on the right path?

  1. It sounds like you have a strong mix of extracurricular activities! Sports, volunteering, art, and contest math all show that you’re well-rounded and committed to your interests. Many universities, including UC LA and UCB, look for students who not only excel academically but also contribute to their communities and pursue their passions outside the classroom.

Your weekly volunteering demonstrates a commitment to helping others, which is invaluable. Art showcases your creativity, and participating in contest math shows dedication to challenging yourself in academics.

If you’re concerned about the impact of your contest math preparation, consider how you can highlight your achievements and any competitions you’ve participated in on your application. Also, think about any leadership roles or special projects you can take on in your current activities, as these can strengthen your profile further.

Ultimately, it’s about showcasing who you are and your unique journey. Make sure to reflect that in your applications. You have a solid foundation, and with a little more focus on leadership or depth in one area, you should be in a strong position. Keep up the great work!
