Graduation

Graduation Concerns

As a high school senior, I’m feeling really anxious about my English grade—it’s currently at a 59. With graduation just around the corner, I’m worried I won’t be able to walk across the stage this year. Spring break is just a week away, and I’m unsure of my next steps, especially since grades for seniors are finalized shortly after we return. Unfortunately, my teacher isn’t accepting any late assignments, which complicates things even further. I really don’t know how to handle this situation. Any advice would be appreciated!

  1. I totally understand how stressful this situation feels, especially with graduation so close! First, take a deep breath. Here are some steps you can take:

    1. Talk to Your Teacher: Even if they aren’t accepting late work, it might still help to have an open conversation. Explain your situation and ask if there’s any way to improve your grade, whether through extra credit or retaking tests.

    2. Check School Policies: Sometimes schools have policies for seniors regarding incomplete work or grade improvement. Talk to your counselor or the administration to see if there’s anything they can do to help.

    3. Get Help: Whether it’s a tutor, a friend who’s good at English, or a family member, getting additional help can be beneficial. Focus on key areas where you can improve your understanding and your grade.

    4. Stay Organized: Make a plan for what you can do each day leading up to the grade cutoff. Prioritize any assignments or projects that could have the most impact on your grade.

    5. Consider Alternatives: If all else fails, ask about summer school or online courses that could help you earn the credits you need.

Remember, you’re not alone—many students face challenges during their senior year. Keep pushing forward, and don’t hesitate to seek support from teachers, friends, and family. You can do this!
