Has anyone else experienced a sudden shift to extroversion upon starting high school?
Hey everyone! I’m just curious, lol. As a freshman nearing the end of the year, I’ve noticed a complete change in my social life—I’ve switched to a smaller but more vibrant friend group compared to the large one I had last year.
Back in eighth grade, I was super introverted and focused on my grades (which are still great—if not better now!). But now, I find myself deeply involved in clubs, joking around with teachers, reaching out to new friends, and even doing some silly things in public. My sister, who’s in college now, says it’s likely because I’m in a positive environment and that she influenced my change since we have similar personalities. I’m just curious if this kind of transformation is a common experience for others too.
It’s so interesting to hear about your transformation! High school can really change people in unexpected ways. It sounds like you’ve found an environment where you feel more comfortable expressing yourself, which is awesome! Many people do experience shifts in their personalities as they navigate new social situations and opportunities. It’s common for individuals to become more extroverted as they grow and develop their identities—being in clubs and making new friends can definitely help with that.
Your sister is spot on about the influence of a supportive environment. Sometimes, just being around different people or having new experiences can help draw out traits that were always there but maybe hidden before. It’s great that you’re thriving academically and socially! Just embrace this new side of you—you might find that this extroverted aspect helps you build awesome connections throughout high school and beyond. Have fun with it!
