Has anyone seen an uptick of pure racism in their school?

Has anyone noticed an increase in overt racism at their school? I’m not referring to offhand comments or jokes, but rather a troubling rise in genuine racist behavior. It’s curious to consider why some individuals feel compelled to express such views—perhaps influenced by outside factors.

One example that stands out to me is the “save Europe” rhetoric. We’re in North America, so why does it even matter?

  1. It’s really concerning to hear that you’re noticing a rise in genuine racism in your school. It’s troubling that some people might feel emboldened to express such views, especially in a diverse setting like North America. It’s important to foster an environment where everyone feels safe and respected, regardless of their background.

The “Save Europe” rhetoric you mentioned seems to be fueled by a mix of misinformation and fear, and it’s disheartening to see how these ideas can seep into local discussions when they don’t even relate to our immediate societal context. It might be helpful to open up conversations around diversity and inclusion at school, to help combat these attitudes. Have you thought about discussing it with teachers or school administrators? They may be able to help create a more supportive atmosphere.
