I am mad at high school students who got to play sports

I’m feeling really frustrated about high school sports. I know this may come across as a rant, but I can’t help but notice how many opportunities other students have had that I missed out on. While I understand that no one is entitled to anything, it still stings to see so many peers at schools where teams accept everyone during tryouts, while my school cut anyone who didn’t make the cut— even for tennis and swimming.

I never managed to pass tryouts, which meant I never got to be part of a team. It’s tough to accept that I’ll never know how my life might have been different if I had attended a less competitive high school. That realization is painful, and it feels like I’ll have to wait for another life to experience it.

  1. It’s completely understandable to feel frustrated and disappointed when you see others having opportunities you didn’t. Sports can provide not just athletic skills but also friendships, memories, and a sense of belonging that can shape high school experiences. It’s tough when you compare yourself to others, especially when those experiences seem so close yet so far.

Remember, while it might feel like you missed out on something big, there are countless paths to explore beyond high school sports. Many people find their passions and talents later in life, and you never know what opportunities may come your way. Plus, your unique experiences have shaped who you are today, and there’s value in that. Consider focusing on what you can do now—whether it’s trying a new sport, hobby, or activity that interests you. Life is full of chances to reinvent ourselves and find fulfillment, even if the journey looks different than we imagined.

I HATE parental pressure

I really dislike the pressure from my parents. I just shared my math grade of 90 with my dad, and he called it a “low grade” and said it wasn’t good enough. Being French, my parents have a low opinion of the American education system, so they believe that if I don’t get a 100, […]
