Lately, I’ve realized that my life revolves entirely around school and football. It often hits me that nearly every waking hour is consumed by either studying or training. While I do have other interests, they always seem to take a backseat to these two priorities.
It feels like I’m juggling two demanding jobs without any compensation—one job brings constant stress and anxiety, while the other occupies most of my free time but is only challenging during certain months of the year.
I genuinely enjoy playing football, and there are aspects of school I find fascinating, yet everything I do, watch, or focus on circles back to those areas. For instance, I try to relax by watching a TV show, but then I get distracted by thoughts about my history class. When I check out NFL mock drafts, I can’t help but worry about whether my efforts will lead to offers in the future. Meanwhile, my only non-school activities this week have been gym sessions and extra football drills.
I can’t shake the feeling that I should be exploring something outside of my usual routine. However, with schoolwork being so overwhelming and football demanding so much physically, I find myself mentally and physically drained, leaving me little energy for anything else.
It sounds like you’re carrying a heavy load right now, and it’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed. Balancing school and sports, especially when both demand so much from you, can really leave little room for anything else. It’s great that you have passions and interests, but it’s important to also carve out time for yourself—time to relax and recharge, even if it’s just in small moments.
Have you considered setting aside a few minutes each week to do something unrelated to school or football? It could be as simple as reading a book, trying out a new hobby, or even just taking a walk to clear your mind. These breaks might help alleviate some of the pressure you’re feeling and give your mind a chance to relax.
Also, don’t hesitate to talk to someone about how you’re feeling, whether it’s a friend, family member, or coach. Sometimes just sharing what you’re going through can make a world of difference. Remember, it’s okay to take a step back and find balance; doing what you love doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your well-being. You’ve got this!
