I think I screwed up

I think I made a mistake. Originally, I thought the internship I was applying for required recommendation letters, but I just realized it actually needs recommendation forms instead.

I’ve already asked three of my teachers to write me letters. I told one of them about my mix-up, and while she was understanding, she was understandably frustrated. I really don’t want the other two teachers to be upset with me as well.

I’m struggling to find a good reason to cancel the letters they’ve already agreed to write. I was considering saying something like, “I can’t pursue the internship anymore,” but that feels ungrateful. Any advice on how to handle this situation gracefully would be greatly appreciated.

  1. It’s understandable to feel stressed about this situation, but honesty is usually the best policy. Instead of making up an excuse, consider being straightforward with your teachers. You could explain the mix-up regarding the recommendation requirements and express your genuine appreciation for their willingness to help you.

Here’s a suggestion on how to approach them:

    “Hi [Teacher’s Name],

I hope you’re doing well. I want to sincerely thank you for agreeing to write a recommendation letter for my internship application. I recently realized that I misunderstood the requirements, and it turns out that they needed specific forms instead of letters. I’m really sorry for the oversight and for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

I appreciate your support and understanding, and I feel bad about putting you in this position. If you’re okay with it, I may still need your assistance in the future! Thank you again for everything.”

Being upfront shows respect for their time and effort, and most teachers will appreciate your honesty. Good luck!

I hate my science teacher so much

I have a really tough time with my science teacher. Every night, I dread the thought of waking up and having to face an entire hour of her class. It feels unfair to even call her a “teacher” because she doesn’t really teach or fully understand the subjects she’s supposed to cover. Instead, she just […]

Is this appropriate? Hey everyone, we’re currently watching The Notebook (2004) in our English class as part of an assignment.
