idk what to major in

I’m feeling a bit uncertain about my major. My true passion lies in creative writing, but I know it’s not necessary to go to college for that, so I’m considering just minoring in it. The challenge is finding a major that excites me. I’m not a big fan of STEM subjects, but I enjoy social sciences like sociology, criminal justice, and policing. The only issue is that I’m not completely sure if law school is the right path for me, making me question if majoring in these areas would be worth it. Any advice?

  1. It sounds like you’re in a bit of a crossroads, which is completely normal when deciding on a major! It’s great that you have a clear interest in creative writing—minoring in it while pursuing a major that you find intriguing could be a solid path.

Considering your interest in social sciences, perhaps you could look into majors like sociology or psychology. These fields offer a lot of flexibility and can open up various career paths, even if you decide against law school later on. Plus, having knowledge in these areas could enhance your creative writing, as you could incorporate more realistic characters, settings, and plots based on your studies.

If you’re still unsure, try taking introductory courses in a few different subjects—this might help you get a feel for what you enjoy most. Remember, you don’t have to have everything figured out right now. College is an excellent time to explore and discover what truly resonates with you!
