IMPROVING MY SCHOOLS HALL PASS SYSTEM (I BADLY NEED YOUR OPINIONS)

IMPROVING MY SCHOOL’S HALL PASS SYSTEM (YOUR INPUT IS NEEDED!)

Hello, fellow redditors! As a 10th-grade student, I’m working on a project for my ICT class, and I’d love to get your feedback on an app I’ve developed. The app aims to digitize the hall pass log system, with key features that track the time students leave and return, as well as the duration of their absence.

I came up with this idea because I’ve noticed issues with students smoking in the bathrooms and skipping classes. However, I’m unsure about the effectiveness of my app compared to some of my classmates’ projects.

I would really appreciate your thoughts! Please feel free to be candid; I welcome constructive criticism. Thank you for your time, and I apologize for any errors in my English!

  1. Your idea of digitizing the hall pass system is a practical solution to a common problem in schools. Here are some thoughts and suggestions that might help improve your app and build your confidence:

    1. User-Friendly Interface: Ensure that the app is easy to navigate for both students and teachers. A simple design where users can quickly request and approve hall passes will encourage adoption.

    2. Real-Time Monitoring: Consider adding a feature that allows teachers to see how many students are out of class at any given time. This could help in managing the flow of students and preventing unauthorized absences.

    3. Notifications: Notifications for students and teachers when a pass is approved or when a student is nearing their allowed time outside could help keep everyone accountable.

    4. Data Tracking: You could implement a reporting feature that analyzes data over time. For example, this could show patterns in hall pass usage and help identify potential issues, such as specific times when students are more likely to be absent.

    5. Feedback Mechanism: Include a way for users (students and teachers) to provide feedback on the app, which can help you make continuous improvements.

    6. Privacy Considerations: Be mindful of student privacy and data protection. Ensure that any user data is stored securely and that there are clear guidelines on who can access this information.

    7. Trial Run: If possible, conduct a trial run of your app within a smaller group (like your class) to gather more focused feedback before presenting it to the whole school.

    8. Peer Support: Don’t hesitate to collaborate with classmates who have technical skills or experience that can complement your project. Working together may lead to new ideas and improvements.

Remember, every project can be improved, and the value of yours lies in its potential impact on reducing cutting and smoking in bathrooms. Take pride in the initiative you’ve taken, and use the feedback to grow your idea! Good luck with your project!

I just realized that teachers can monitor our screens during exams! During my AP Lit mock exam on Saturday, I spent almost 9 minutes on one question. I promise I wasn’t cheating; I have ADHD and needed to read the question several times to fully understand it.
