Internship or study abroad?

Internship vs. Study Abroad: Help Me Choose!

This summer, I have the chance to intern in a field I’m considering for my future career. At the same time, there’s an opportunity to study abroad in France with classmates from my school.

While the study abroad program would be quite costly and would require me to work afterwards to cover the expenses, I’ve heard that it’s a truly remarkable experience and well worth it. Since I’ve already gained some internship experience, it wouldn’t be too difficult for me to forgo the internship.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on what I should choose!

One Reply to “Internship or study abroad?”

  1. That sounds like a tough but exciting decision! Here are a few things to consider for both options:

    Internship:
Career Relevance: If the internship is directly related to your intended career, it may provide valuable skills, experience, and networking opportunities that can help you in the long run.
Resume Boost: Having relevant work experience on your resume can set you apart from other candidates when applying for jobs after graduation.
Financial Consideration: If the internship is paid, it can alleviate financial concerns compared to the costs associated with studying abroad.

    Study Abroad:
Unique Experience: Studying in France could provide cultural exposure and personal growth that you might not get elsewhere. It can also be a memorable experience that enriches your life.
Networking Opportunities: You may meet people from different backgrounds and schools, expanding your global network.
Future Job Market: Many employers value international experience, and it can demonstrate adaptability and a willingness to step out of your comfort zone.

Ultimately, think about your long-term goals and what kind of experience you want to prioritize right now. You might also consider speaking to mentors or people in your desired field about the value of each option. Good luck with your decision!
