Is rugby a bad choice for my first sport? I’m a 16-year-old sophomore, and I’ve never really played a sport seriously (just some casual games in elementary school, which doesn’t really count). Most of my friends are athletes, and a few of them have encouraged me to try out for rugby. I have a week to decide, and right now the practices are pretty laid-back, but I can’t shake off the nerves. At the meeting, I noticed I was the only non-freshman who was totally new to the sport.

Team Bonding: Since your friends are already involved, it could strengthen those relationships and help you make new ones as you all train and compete together.
Growth Mindset: Starting something new can be intimidating, but it’s also a fantastic opportunity for personal growth. You’ll learn not just about rugby, but about teamwork, discipline, and pushing your limits.
