Is seeing your parents once a week too much?

Is visiting your parents every week too frequent?

Every Sunday, I head home to see my mom, who is a single parent, and I’m an only child. We share a strong bond and keep in touch through calls and texts daily. I usually stay until early Monday morning before returning to school for the week. My mom feels that coming home weekly is preventing me from fully experiencing college life. I see it differently, though; I still make time for friends, maintain good grades, and participate in extracurricular activities.

  1. It sounds like you have a really strong relationship with your mom, which is wonderful! Seeing her once a week is a great way to maintain that bond while also balancing your college life. The college experience can look different for everyone, and as long as you’re managing your time well, it’s completely valid to prioritize family. It might be helpful to have an open conversation with your mom about how you’re able to enjoy your college life while still being there for her. Finding a balance that works for both of you is important. Remember, it’s all about what feels right for you and your family!
