Is this a solid schedule for my junior year?
I’m currently undecided about my major. While I’m not particularly strong in math, I have a genuine interest in the sciences, and I excel in English. I struggled with AP Human Geography, earning a 90 in the class but only a 1 on the exam, which I took a semester later without studying. However, I believe I can handle more challenging courses now that I’m no longer a freshman. I haven’t taken any other AP classes yet.
Here’s what I’m considering for my schedule:
- AP English Language
- AP US History
- AP Chemistry
- AP Psychology
- Theatre Arts 2
- Algebra 2
- Art 1
- Creative Writing
Your schedule has a solid mix of AP classes and creative courses, which is great! Here are some thoughts to consider:
AP Classes: Taking AP Lang, AP US History, AP Chemistry, and AP Psychology demonstrates a willingness to challenge yourself. Since you mentioned not being great at math, Algebra 2 might be a stretch, especially alongside other demanding courses. Consider if you’d benefit from a lower-level math class to balance your workload.
Interests: Since you’re interested in scientific fields and are stronger in English, AP Chemistry and AP Psychology align well with those interests. The combination of rigorous courses in English and science can help you explore potential majors.
Theatre and Arts: Including Theatre Arts and Art provides a creative outlet, which is important for maintaining a balanced schedule. It’s great that you’re keeping your passions in mind while selecting classes.
Workload: Think about how much time you have for studying, extracurricular activities, and personal time. AP classes demand a lot of work, so make sure you’re not overwhelming yourself.
Future Planning: If you’re unsure about your major, this schedule allows you to explore different subjects. Just keep an eye on your grades and adjust if you find that you can’t manage the workload.
If you feel like you can handle it and are excited about the subjects, go for it! Just remember to stay organized and prioritize self-care to manage stress. Good luck!
