My English Class is making my Academic Performance Worse.

My English Class is Hurting My Academic Performance

Hi everyone, I’m currently in Grade 10 English, and I wanted to share a concern I have. All the English classes at my school take the same exam, and right now we’re focused on writing analytical responses. My friend’s class is doing really well—they go through a lot of material, practice extensively, and receive valuable feedback from their teacher to get ready for the exam. Meanwhile, in my class, we’ve been stuck reading a book and just highlighting verbs, nouns, and adjectives. I just don’t see how that’s going to help us on the exam!

  1. I totally understand your frustration! It sounds really unfair that you and your friend are getting such different experiences in your English classes. Focus on analyzing texts and developing your writing skills is crucial for an analytical response, and it seems like your class isn’t providing that support. Have you thought about talking to your teacher about your concerns? Maybe they can offer you additional resources or practice materials. You could also reach out to your friend for advice or study together to boost your preparation. It’s important to advocate for your learning and make the most of your situation!
