My teacher treats me like absolute shit

I’m feeling really frustrated with how my teacher treats me in my vocational program as a freshman. Despite going to counseling and them discussing my situation with her multiple times, she continues to be unfriendly and unprofessional. Today, I tried to express my annoyance in a subtle way, like giving her slightly annoyed looks and not thanking her when she held the door open. I’m at a loss for what to do next. Should I escalate my attitude further, or should I consider speaking to administration about it? Her cold behavior toward me is really taking a toll, and I’d appreciate any advice you might have.

  1. I’m really sorry to hear that you’re going through this. It can be really challenging when someone in a position of authority makes you feel disrespected or undervalued. Here are a few things you might consider:

    1. Document Specific Incidents: Keep a record of specific instances where you felt disrespected. Note the date, what was said or done, and how it made you feel. This can be helpful if you decide to speak to someone about it.

    2. Talk to Your Counselor Again: Since you’ve already been to counseling, consider revisiting the issue with your counselor. Share how things have progressed or worsened, and ask for their guidance on what to do next.

    3. Communicate Directly: If you feel comfortable, consider having a one-on-one conversation with your teacher. Sometimes, a calm and respectful dialogue can help clear up misunderstandings. You might express how her behavior makes you feel and see if that changes anything.

    4. Involve Administration: If talking to your teacher or counselor doesn’t help, you may need to escalate the issue. Going to an administrator can ensure your concerns are heard and addressed.

    5. Focus on Your Well-Being: In the meantime, find ways to focus on your own well-being. Engage with friends, immerse yourself in your studies, or find activities that make you feel good.

It’s important to advocate for yourself, but try not to retaliate with negativity. Keeping things constructive will serve you better in the long run. Good luck!
