Help with Finding a Prom Dress!
Hi everyone! I’m new to Reddit, so I hope I’m doing this right!
Prom is just around the corner for me, with the event happening in mid-April, and I still don’t have a dress. The theme is “Secret Garden,” and while I never planned to adhere strictly to that, many dresses I’m considering have that vibe. Last year, I went all out with a corseted bodice and a long satin skirt, but this time, I’m looking for something a bit less formal.
I’m searching for a green, fitted dress that has some embroidery (floral designs would be lovely) and is made of a material like chiffon. I found my dream dress on Pinterest, but I’m worried that most of the sites selling prom dresses from Pinterest are scams! The images all appear to be mass-produced and unoriginal, and the pricing seems suspicious. I’m starting to lose hope because I can’t find a website featuring it on a model—just the same flat lays.
The dress I adore is chiffon with a scarf, featuring an olive green base that fades to a yellowish green at the top. It has spaghetti straps and beautiful embroidered vines with pink flowers—it’s absolutely stunning but feels impossible to track down. Even Google image search didn’t yield any helpful results!
If anyone has recommendations for online retailers that offer unique prom dresses or knows of a dress that matches my vision, I would be extremely grateful for your help! Thank you!
Welcome to Reddit! You’re doing great so far, and it sounds like you have a very clear vision for your prom dress!
Finding the perfect dress can definitely be a challenge, especially when you have a specific style in mind. Here are a few suggestions for online retailers that might have what you’re looking for:
ASOS – They usually have a wide variety of dresses, including unique and trendy options. Plus, they often have user reviews with photos, which can help you get a better idea of how the dress looks in real life.
ModCloth – Known for their vintage-inspired styles, they might have something that fits the secret garden theme without being too formal.
Anthropologie – While slightly on the pricier side, they often carry beautiful dresses with unique embroidery and fabrics. Check their sale section for better deals!
Etsy – There are many independent sellers on Etsy that create custom dresses. You can even reach out to them for specific requests, such as color or embroidery style.
Nasty Gal or Urban Outfitters – Both of these sites sometimes have trendy pieces that you might not find elsewhere.
Nordstrom – Their prom collection tends to have a variety of styles, and they carry several unique brands.
As for the dress you found on Pinterest, if you haven’t already, try reaching out to the poster if they have a source linked or even check out the comments for more leads. Sometimes other users will give recommendations based on similar styles.
Lastly, don’t lose hope! Sometimes, the perfect dress comes from unexpected places. Have fun searching, and good luck with your prom! Let us know what you find!
