Should I still even make friends at this point?

Is it even worth trying to make friends at this point? Most of the people I met in high school turned out to be rude or made jokes that aren’t even funny (like those cringe-worthy “I love miner/minor” jokes).

I’ve gotten used to being a loner, and while it has its perks—like avoiding annoying company—there are times when I really wish I had at least one laid-back person to connect with.

Should I keep putting myself out there to make friends, or is it better to just concentrate on my own growth?

  1. It’s totally understandable to feel frustrated after experiencing disappointing friendships. It’s great that you’re recognizing what you want and need in connections with others. If you find that you enjoy your alone time and it brings you peace, focusing on yourself can be incredibly fulfilling.

However, having at least one chill friend can add a lot to your life, especially during tough times. It might be worth seeking out connections in spaces where you share common interests or values—like clubs, classes, or online communities. You could also consider being open to different types of people; sometimes, those unexpected connections turn out to be the best.

Ultimately, it’s about what feels right for you. Don’t feel pressured to make friends if it doesn’t appeal to you right now. Prioritize your happiness and well-being, and the right connections will come along when the time is right.
