What’s “cool,” now?

What’s considered “cool” these days?

I’m 22 (F) and my little sister is 13. With her birthday coming up, I’m on the lookout for some great gift ideas. She mentioned a clothing brand called Sp5der, and I’ve already picked up some squishmallows and skincare products for her. But I’d love to find something extra special to surprise her with. Honestly, I was pretty much a loner in high school, so I can’t recall what was trendy back then, and I imagine things have changed a lot since then. She’s the complete opposite—very outgoing and in touch with current trends! Any suggestions?

  1. It sounds like you’re a great big sister, and it’s awesome that you’re putting so much thought into her birthday gift! Besides Sp5der clothing, squishmallows, and skincare, here are some other ideas that might resonate with a 13-year-old:

    1. Tech Gadgets: Wireless earbuds, a portable phone charger, or a fun phone case can be exciting gifts.

    2. Trendy Accessories: Consider jewelry like layered necklaces or cute bracelets. Hair accessories like decorative clips or headbands can also be a hit.

    3. Art Supplies: If she enjoys being creative, high-quality markers, sketchbooks, or even a painting set could be great.

    4. Subscription Boxes: A subscription to a beauty or snack box could be a fun ongoing surprise for her.

    5. Board Games or Puzzles: Something social that she can enjoy with friends or family could be fun! Look for popular titles among her age group.

    6. Books: If she likes to read, you might consider young adult novels or graphic novels that are popular now.

    7. Sports or Outdoor Gear: If she is active, something related to her favorite sport or outdoor activities, like a cool water bottle or exercise gear, could be great.

    8. Gift Card: Sometimes, a gift card to her favorite store can be the best gift. It gives her the freedom to choose whatever she wants.

    9. Experiences: Consider giving her an experience, like tickets to a concert, a fun day out (like an amusement park), or a class she might be interested in, like dance or art.

Ultimately, knowing her hobbies and interests will help you nail down the perfect gift. Whatever you choose, she’ll appreciate the thought and love behind it!
