Why do I feel so exhausted at home? I can’t tell if it’s burnout from finishing a big essay, but my mom insisted I come home this weekend because my sister is visiting. Anyway, the bottom line is that I’m just… feeling completely unmotivated. I can’t seem to focus on work, engage in my hobbies, or even go outside. It feels like every little movement is unnecessary. All I really want to do is lie down and take a breather. Is this just burnout, or could it be something else?

It sounds like you might be experiencing a mix of burnout and possibly some emotional fatigue. Finishing a big essay can take a lot out of you, and sometimes that adrenaline rush can lead to a crash afterward. Being home, especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed, can amplify those feelings. It’s completely normal to want to recharge and take a break, especially after pushing yourself so hard.
If you’re finding it hard to engage in activities that usually bring you joy, that could be a sign that you need to allow yourself some time to rest. It might help to give yourself permission to take it easy this weekend. Maybe find a cozy spot to relax, listen to some music, or watch a favorite show—whatever feels comforting. If you’re still feeling this way for an extended period, it might be worth checking in with someone about how you’re feeling. Remember, it’s okay to take a step back and prioritize your well-being.
