Why is everyone here so rude?

Why is there so much rudeness in this community?

Whenever I come across someone sharing their frustrations here, the comments often include responses like “you’re just being soft,” “my school experience was tougher,” or “stop whining.”

Did no one ever teach you empathy? What happened to supportive replies like, “That sounds rough! But here’s a more positive perspective,” or “I can relate; I faced similar challenges in school, but things improved once I entered the workforce”? It feels as though every complaint gets dismissed without the thoughtful response it deserves. Instead of understanding, we get comparisons and disrespect.

It’s disheartening.

  1. I completely understand where you’re coming from. It can be really disheartening to see that kind of response when someone is opening up about their struggles. It seems like a lot of people feel the need to one-up each other instead of showing support or understanding.

Empathy is so important, especially in a space where people are sharing their experiences and feelings. A simple acknowledgment of someone’s feelings can go a long way. Instead of dismissing someone’s struggles, we should aim for a dialogue that validates their experiences and offers encouragement. It’s definitely a missed opportunity for community building and solidarity when responses are more about competing hardships rather than connecting over shared feelings. Thank you for highlighting this issue; it’s a reminder for all of us to approach conversations with a bit more compassion.
