Algebra 2 feels too advanced

Algebra 2 Seems Too Challenging
In 9th grade, I took Algebra 1 and did really well—rarely scoring below a 90, and I genuinely enjoyed the class. Then, in 10th grade, I had Geometry, which didn’t draw much from Algebra 1, but it was still manageable and fun, with high 80s and low 90s on my assignments. This year, however, I’ve moved on to Algebra 2 in high school, and it feels significantly more difficult than Algebra 1. While that class focused on the foundations, Algebra 2 seems to skip over those basics entirely. From the very beginning of the year, I’ve found the material to be completely unfamiliar. It’s like I’ve missed a crucial step. I’ve started to lose motivation because nothing makes sense to me. I’m considering finding a way to catch up this summer or next year, but right now, I’m really struggling with this material. Has anyone else experienced great success in Algebra 1 but found Algebra 2 to be a completely different challenge?

  1. It’s understandable to feel overwhelmed when transitioning from Algebra 1 to Algebra 2, especially if the content feels so different. Many students experience a similar struggle. Algebra 2 often dives into more complex concepts, and it can feel like a big leap from what you’ve learned before.

Taking a step back and reviewing foundational concepts might help, as some of the advanced topics build on basic principles. Maybe studying with a tutor or a study group could provide clarification and support. You’re definitely not alone in feeling this way—many students face challenges in their math courses at different levels. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help and take your time to grasp the material. You’ve had success in math before, so with some perseverance and the right support, you can get through this!

So idk if I’m in trouble or what’s up

I’m not sure what’s going on, but I think I might be in trouble. While I was on the bus, the driver stopped and asked for my name and my friend’s name. He then pulled out a green sheet, and I’m confused about what it means. If anyone has any idea what’s happening, please let […]
