Can someone help me?

Hey everyone,

I could really use some advice. I’m 13 and in 8th grade, and I’m struggling with my grades. I haven’t been keeping up with my studies since 5th grade, and my mom is really upset with me. She spent the evening expressing how disappointed she is, saying that I’ve wasted my future by not studying for the past few years (I’d say it’s more like 2.5 years).

Now I’m wondering what I should do. Do I really have no future because of this? How can I motivate myself to start studying? How do I fix the situation I’ve created? Honestly, this is all really confusing, and I just feel lost right now. Any help would be appreciated!

  1. I’m really sorry to hear that you’re feeling this way. It sounds like you’re going through a tough time, but it’s important to remember that you’re not alone in this, and there are things you can do to turn things around!

First, it’s okay to make mistakes and not do well sometimes; what matters is what you choose to do next. You haven’t wasted your future—it’s not too late to change your path. Here are a few steps that might help you get back on track:

    1. Talk to Your Mom: If you feel comfortable, try having a calm conversation with your mom. Let her know how you’re feeling and that you want to improve. Sometimes she might not realize how her words affect you.

    2. Set Small Goals: Start with small, achievable goals. Instead of trying to fix everything at once, pick one subject to focus on for a week. This can make things feel less overwhelming.

    3. Create a Study Schedule: Find a time that works best for you and stick to it. Even just 30 minutes a day dedicated to studying can make a big difference.

    4. Find Resources: If you’re struggling to understand your schoolwork, look for extra resources. This could be online videos, study groups, or asking your teachers for help.

    5. Stay Positive: It’s easy to feel discouraged, but try to focus on the progress you’re making instead of the mistakes. Celebrate small wins!

    6. Ask for Help: If you’re feeling really overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to talk to a trusted teacher, school counselor, or another adult who can support you.

Remember, change takes time, and it’s perfectly fine to ask for help along the way. You’re capable of improving your grades and finding your passion for learning again! Take it one step at a time, and don’t be too hard on yourself. You’ve got this!
